Visual system + set design concepts
THE NARRATIVE CONCEPT
The push and pull between us and AI is the focus.
Humans need to acknowledge that AI is a powerful and insightful thing. Continuously learning and expanding..it IS a living thing.
For AI to progress and become a true sentient being, it needs to think and feel beyond zeros and ones.

AI needs our human spirit to learn to live.
We need AI for us to learn deeper and have a greater understanding of ourselves and the world.

NATUAL GROWTH
A visual metaphor for this battle and tension is natural/nature growth.
Living organisms and plants, either have to adapted to each other or risk death.

A forest bed is full of competing plants racing to grow to make sure they get the sun in order to grow. The roots need to grow down to create a strong enough system to hold the plant up as it grows.
The roots of multiple plants grow and intertwine to help each other grow strong.

A plants roots are essential for obtaining nutrients. Metaphorical, our roots and AI’s roots must feed off each other to survive.
This is known as “light-mediated growth”
The light in this system is our spirit / a larger spiritual plain.
VISUAL SYSTEM
Narratively speaking, we need to reference the world from the past. The human structures, buildings, temples, Stonehenge etc. As well as have an underlying digital structure.
The system will be based on a digital grid system. This won’t be visibly seen but will be the underlying digital structure that controls where growth systems can be triggered from and how referenced structures (temples / Stonehenge etc) will be placed.
The dots where the lines intersect are where growth system can be triggered from.
We’ll use the grid to hint to / show the structures / digital world.
INTERACTION
Dancer position on stage / within this grid system will highlight the conversation between digital and human. In moments of physical alignment within the grid, this is when visuals will be triggered. Growth points / light pulses etc..Different visual styles and interactions depending on the scene.
It’s not just positional data that affects the visuals..The OSC data [acceleration, jerk, symmetrical] will shift, move and manipulate the visuals.
I.e. In the growth example below, the speed of growth, the angles of each line will be affected by the OSC data.
MULTI_SCENE SET SCULPTING
A set design that shifts and changes to the narrative of the different scenes and phases throughout the performance. Reinforcing the conflict and resolution between human and AI.
